When I asked Heike what was so inspiring about the whales, so that she decided to make a collection two words came out of her mouth:
Profoundness and Wisdom
Whales are profound animals with deep insights and sophisticated social behavior. They learn from their elders; they have social hierarchies, and they cooperate and play in groups. Wisdom is not a foreign word for whales. They do clearly understand wisdom. Learning from their elders is an example of that. Exploring through the deepest points of the oceans is making them even more mysterious.
The jewellery pieces of the Eigenart brand are unique pieces, handmade by Valentina in a very traditional way. They are accompanied by instinctive, experimental inspiration. The gems are born as small wearable sculptures, reflecting Valentina's sense of concise, abstract form, sensitively interpreted. The soft forms (as in the Dancers and Climbers) or the more hard geometric ones (Rough edges and Fluid borders), bring out the power of the chosen materials, bronze or silver, the clear lines vibrate in the light.In the creator's private and professional life, architecture and contemporary art are two constants.
Her work is a spiritual experience. The bank of the tributary that flows to the Danube runs through the village can be seen from the round Window of her Atelier, which she calls her Altar. It is where she feels the flow and the abundance of choices to create. Like giving birth, there are endless ways of creating jewelry. While doing it, one learns about herself, mirrors herself. Once Judit’s work is completed with the metal and she cleans it, the radiance of the silver and the gems is simply ecstatic.
